Paperfam: Illustrator Hannah Rowlands
Hannah Rowlands (she/her) is an illustrator based in London.
She graduated from Kingston University with a BA in illustration & animation. Her whimsical and naive drawings really caught our eye and we love the humour and sass she creates with her characters.
We’ve known Hannah for a couple of years, she’s a good laugh and we fondly remember meeting up with her in Tokyo, getting drunk in Golden Gai and inadvertently ordering offal at a non-english speaking restaurant.
Let us introduce you to her.
Tell us a little about your background - Where are you from and where you based now? I’m originally from York. I grew up on a council estate and my whole childhood was spent drawing, making things, playing Barbies with my sister, going camping or playing out in the street. At 16 I studied Media Print and Publishing for 2 years as I was split between a career in graphic design or journalism. I decided illustration was what I actually wanted to do (I preferred drawing to designing!) so did an Art Foundation year, then moved to London in 2008 to study BA Illustration & Animation at Kingston University. |
